Outcome Objectives:

As a result of completing this activity, the participant will be better able to:

  • Identify the principles of ethical or moral conduct for physicians
  • Explain the basis for ethical relationships between physicians and patients
  • Discuss the need for privacy, consent, and confidentiality in medical encounters.
  • Recognize self-awareness of implicit bias to develop inclusive professional behavioral ethical practices.
  • Recognize different approaches to ethical theory, values, and reasoning that inform decisions in medical practice, policy, and law.
  • Critically analyze ethical issues encountered in medical practice and formulate a framework within which such issues could be resolved.
